ASUU Strike: When will we matter? [Must Read] for All Nigerian Students

Civilization begins when the strong finally realize they have a duty to protect the weak, when the knowledgeable finally realise they have a duty to protect the ignorant; that dutyis the foundation of civilization, the bedrock on which everything else rests.

For decades, we, the people, have abdicated our duties to a few strong men. "Rule us" wesay, "and do not steal too much. Do not be too corrupt, do not betray us too much, do not shame us beyond endurance. Protect theweak, the elderly, the helpless, the sick, the young; protect them from those who will prey on them. And protect us.

If you grant usprotection, you may steal a little, enough to be filthy rich as long as you do not rub our faces too much in it. We are giving you care of our numerous resources because we lack the
faith, the strength and the brain power to utilise and manage them properly.

Now there is a new party or should I call it a "coalition" with the sole aim to topple the present administration (of course at an election!) kind of a civilian coup d'état. Not tobetter develop the country, NO! not to find a way to provide better jobs, NO! not seeking to manage our resources profitably, NO!; just to ensure that the ruling party does not produce the winner in the next elections.

Someone said they are an association of pastcriminals seeking to stop people from deceiving people. Now the two "major" parties are trading words with the new party committing it's first blunder. Of course, the opposition seized the opportunity optimally saying they do not see a presidential candidate among themselves.

I want to say here "categorically" that our duty can no longer be ignored. Our destiny has been delivered into our hands by the Hands that created the universe. We must acknowledge before God and before each other that this nation is ours to write, ours to invent, ours to live and ours to answer for;on earth here and before the throne of heaven on Judgement day.

The future of our families is on our heads, the fate of this people is our responsibility and our destiny. The "e no concern me" attitude of today's youths is disheartening. How many know what is happening in the government, how many care to know? Our leaders do whatever they want without recourse to the people being led.

Nigerian students have to exercise patience biding the time "they" decide to answer "us". Sorry?Who are the  "us"? Did our lecturers even ask what the students feel about their requests? They say they are fighting to improve the standard of higher education in Nigeria. For the love of a good education! How many student
leaders were incorporated in the agreement with the federal government in 2009? But we are inconsequential; as we have always been. The strike in 2009 for 3 months, who were primarily, secondarily andtertiarily affected? Students! The present strike, which group of people is singularly affected? Students! And you sit there facebooking all day, Making jokes about the strike while our lecturers are collecting their salaries, senators are collecting their allowances.

Even the Minister of state on Education is more interested in the Rivers crises than in strike situation. We all campaigned the nation over about the "girl child" situation. Hash tags and DP's proclaimed our outrage at what about 90% of us did not fully understand. Why can't we do the same about the strike? Or we'll just sit here hoping, maybe even praying that the strike will be called off. The "agreement" theyare even talking about, the contents are unknown to "US". But then again, do we matter?

  2. U don't even know that it is u who is ignorant about the strike action. The lecturals kids are eight in foreign universities or private ones. The strike is selfish and stupid, noting about let the government provide lectures halls, labouratories or library. All they talk about is wages and salaries. I sincerely hope students rise up t occupy nigeria and face out this unresonable act of constant strike which is even more constant that power supply.

  3. ɪ̣̝̇†̥ baffles me the way this body(ASUU) places request α̲̅πϑ sit back expect FG to answer ɪ̣̝̇†̥ with the use of strike, this just shows that we don't have brilliant minds as executive @ d ASUU level, smh, this shouldn't always be the case, we the students αя€ @ d tail end of this incessant strikes, we have our plans after scl to accomplish, this strike all the time isn't helping issues especially we the students. When our lecturers went to scl was there this issue of strike? NO then why do this to us, posterity is watching U̶̲̥̅̊ all, ASUU α̲̅πϑ FG

  4. The truth, most of the people against this strike don't even knw d cause of dis strike.Talking about allowances, the fed government have met dere allowances demand, which shows it isn't about d allowances. Its about d infrastructures in all public universities. The present strike if called off as it has always bn done will still resurface as d federal government will still come back den nd say dey re "broke". The agreement between the Fed government nd ASUU has never been fully fulfilled by d Fed governmet which is d reason y ASUU is always goin on strike, dey keep saying dey are broke nd can't fulfill all nd keep deceivin d lecturers dey will do it later. The later will only come when another strike is declared. It should be noted that before any strike, there is always an "heads up" to warn the government. So if d fed government is truely sincere, let it honour nd fulfill d agreement it willingly entered to in 2009. Those saying ASUU suld call off the strike are probably the greedy final year students who know pretty well that even if d strike is called off now,it will be "called on" back when dey leave school. So y not let's pile d pressure on d fed government collectively so dey will do d right thing nd stop beem biase in our views

  5. This strike is for the selfish interest of assu bcos the students are not been considered, besides the question here should be,is assu going to make use of the so called infrastructure allowances for it or is it going into their pocket?off course am very sure that 60% of the allowance will not be used to meet its needs..each day many students who are supposed to be in school are been caught in one crime or the other. Neither assu nor fed govt is helping issues here.. Students are the ones suffering bcos most lecturers are going on vacation outside the country while most of their kids are studying abroad.

  7. Asuu are criminals, all they want is interest. Many of the lecturers are not teaching anything in the classroom, they will just come and give you a note to photocopy that at the end of the topic that they will explain it all, is all lies, they will not explain anything. Rather they will tell you either they lecture or they dont that at the end of the month, they will collect their salary. But their mean interest, aim and objective is on our female students and money to pass a course. They dont add any new thing to their note, the same lecture note they used five(5) yrs ago is the same that they are still using till date, no research nothing nothing. Asuu you people should thank God, that we dont have a president in this country, cause if we had one, things could have change....... Greatest Nigerian Student!

  9. Differentiating the word JOB "n" WORK. A man that takes an offer as job, got mad and goes on strike if he's not paid and he's nt satisfied wt his peanut. He that takes offer as work is like a billboard( sign board) he's nt jealous abt the pple he rise. The interestin thing is a man that taks an offer as work ll always be remembered and he's satisfied wt his peanut buh the man that taks an offer as job can't nevr be remembered becos he was paid under obligation. Whn two elephants fight grass suffer. FG and ASUU shouldn't forget that the evil a does live with the man.
