The crowd wanted a scare this weekend.
Viewers were eager to follow the journey of
paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine
Warren, who were working to help a family
terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse
in The Conjuring, making the newly released
thriller the No. 1 movie at the box office this
weekend.
The film, which stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick
Wilson brought in over $41.5 million opening
weekend, knocking Despicable Me 2 off the top
spot.
The animated Despicable Me sequel made slightly
over $25 million in it's third week in theaters,
followed by the new animation flick Turbo, which
premiered this weekend and took the third spot
in the box office with $21.5 million.
Grown Ups 2, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin
James, David Spade and Chris Rock, dropped from
the second slot last week to No. 4 in the box office
during its second week in theaters with $20
million this weekend.
Red 2 rounded out the top five by bringing in
